This is a narrative portrait representing the integral unity of identity by threading the memory of youth through an older man’s self-consciousness. The use of shadows reminds the viewer that this is not necessarily an effortless act of memory, but rather the active work of ‘narrative-identity creation’ that moves to re-interpret and connect those ruptured continuities of self-identity across the timeline of our lives.
